Think of FSH as the egg's personal trainer - it's the hormone that coaches your eggs to mature and prepare for ovulation.
What does it do?
FSH stimulates the growth of follicles in the ovaries, each containing an immature egg. Each cycle, FSH helps a number of follicles grow, of which one usually becomes dominant and leads to ovulation.
Why does it matter?
Your FSH level can tell you how hard your ovaries need to work. If FSH is high, it may mean your ovaries need more stimulation to produce mature eggs, which can be linked to a reduced egg reserve.
